Diffusion tensor imaging can detect and quantify corticospinal tract degeneration after stroke

Mean values (SD) of fractional anisotropy (FA), a measure of the directionality of water diffusion (dimensionless units); and mean diffusivity (MD), a measure of the amount of water diffusion (×10−3mm2s−1), in the infarct region in patients, and at different corticospinal tract levels in patients and controls
