2005, NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :The present study is the first comprehensive report demonstrating the distribution of SSTR1-5 in AD and nondemented (control) frontal cortex of human brain at the protein level. Consistent with previous studies, we observed a significant decrease in SST-immunopositive neurons in AD cortical tissue in comparison to control cortex (Arai et al., 1992; Francis et al., 1987; Gabriel et al., 1993). In addition, we found a significant decrease in NPY-immunoreactive neurons in AD cortex.
