We present a case of a young man who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia (ICD-10: F20.0) and episodic ataxia type 2. The patient, a man aged 27 years, was first admitted to our hospital with psychotic symptoms in June 1995. He presented with paranoid delusions and delusions of reference, acoustic hallucinations (commenting voices), formal thought disorder, and behaviour disorganisation, as well as negative symptoms such as blunted affect, poor rapport, and lack of spontaneity.
