Contralateral and ipsilateral refers to the side of the vestibular lesion in patients with vestibular neuritis; right and left refers to control patients. Values are given as mean (SD). During REM sleep, none of the patients with vestibular neuritis showed any significant preponderance in saccade direction (Mann-WhitneyU test).
