Electrospun polymeric micro/nanofibrous scaffolds for long-term drug release and their biomedical applications
2017, Drug Discovery TodayCitation Excerpt :In addition to GFs, the electrospun fibers can provide prolonged delivery of other therapeutic agents for the treatment of nerve injuries [104,105]. For instance, methylcobalamin (MeCbl), one of the active forms of vitamin B12, is known to promote nerve regeneration and neuronal cell survival [106]. However, it is difficult to achieve prolonged administration and effective drug concentrations because of the short half-life of MeCbl.
