Choreatic hyperkinesias can occur in a variety of conditions other than Huntington's disease, commonly labeled as symptomatic chorea (Klawans and Brandabur, 1993; Harding, 1994; Durr et al., 1995). The available evidence indicates that LLR II is absent only in Huntington's disease, not in symptomatic chorea (Deuschl et al., 1989; Eisen et al., 1989).
