As we discussed previously, Down's syndrome patients show Alzheimer's disease-like pathology in the later stage of disease (Wisniewski et al., 1985) and express high levels of APP similar to Alzheimer's disease (O'Hara et al., 1989; Querfurth et al., 1995). In the adult Down's syndrome cortex, up regulations of Notch1 and Hes1 expressions were observed (Fischer et al., 2005).
