Therefore, these facts revealed convincing association between self-limiting of HBV infection and the HLA class II allele DR13. More study in Qatar showed an association between HLA-DR2 and DR7 and clearance and persistence of the hepatitis B virus, respectively (Almarri and Batchelor, 1994). In this regard, convincing studies about association between MHC class I and HBV persistence are rare.

  • Non-invasive screening of HLA-DPA1 and HLA-DPB1 alleles for persistent hepatitis B virus infection: Susceptibility for vertical transmission and toward a personalized approach for vaccination and treatment

    Citation Excerpt :

Variability in immune response against HBV infection is elucidated to be associated with HLA polymorphism in Chinese CHB [7]. Different HLA-DR polymorphisms were found to be significantly associated with either chronic carriage or rates of viral clearance [24,25]. Epidemiological benefits for both HLA-DR and HLA-DQB heterozygosity in clearing hepatitis B virus have been noted [26].

  • Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase 677 T allele protects against persistent HBV infection in West Africa

    2008, Journal of Hepatology
    Citation Excerpt :

A multivariate logistic regression model was used to determine which variables predicted the outcome of HBV infection. Any factors usually known to be correlated with the outcome of HBV infection, i.e. gender, age, HLA-DRB1*07, 09, 1301 and 1302 alleles [3,6–9,15] or with a p level ⩽0.1 in the univariate analysis, were subsequently tested in the logistic regression model (stepwise selection). Continuous variables were entered into the model as covariables.
