    Abstract

Twenty children with gliomas of the hypothalamus were studied. Management was by radiotherapy alone, or operative treatment with or without radiotheraoy, and in some cases treatment was withheld entirely. One half of the children died within one year of presentation, whereas the remainder are alive and well after many years. An attempt is made by analysis of the results to determine when surgery or radiotherapy or a combination of the two may appropriately be employed in the management of this condition.
