Axial T2 weighted magnetic resonance image scans through the pons (A) and ponto-mesencephalic junction (B) of a patient with a locked-in syndrome demonstrate an infarct, seen as hyperintensity, involving the left superior cerebellum, right pons and left dorsal pons, and the ponto-mesencephalic junction. The arteries involved are the left superior cerebellar artery and some basilar perforators.
