A08 Clinical management of Huntington's disease
Abstract
Optimal management of Huntington's disease requires a thorough understanding of the lifetime course of the disease on the part of the physician, education and support for the patient and family, and a team of creative and compassionate health professionals. In the course, we will review the stages of HD—from the patient's first awareness of their risk of developing the disease, until death, and discuss the kinds of care needs that patients have throughout their course. We will discuss specific treatment and management strategies, and present cases that illustrate common challenges and obstacles to ideal care. Attendees should be armed with challenging cases, questions, and suggestions.
