There was no history of other neurological or otological diseases (including infectious diseases) or use of neuro-ototoxic drugs. Laboratory tests, including tests for autoimmune diseases, were undisturbed. Petrosal radiographs and brain CT scans were normal. The pedigree suggested autosomal recessive inheritance.
