  • Patients with motor predominant ALS presented with a common cognitive profile with patients with FA/L, PLS and PBP for all cognitive domains whereas they were significantly less cognitively impaired compared with patients with behavioural predominant FTD (ALS-FTD, FTD) who also presented with a common cognitive profile; comparison of all tested cognitive domains: language, fluency and executive functions (subsumed under the ALS-specific score) and memory and visuospatial function (under the ALS non-specific score).

  • *Indicates a significant difference with p<0.05.

  • †Indicates no significant difference with p<0.05.

  • ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; FA/L, flail arm/leg syndrome; FTD, frontotemporal dementia; HC, healthy controls; ns, not significant; PBP, progressive bulbar palsy; PLS, primary lateral sclerosis.
