2024, NeuropsychologiaNeural correlates of semantic matching in indirect priming
2023, Cognitive Systems ResearchCitation Excerpt :As reported in other studies, indirect semantic priming, when requiring postlexical or retrospective processing, seems to involve activations in the right hemisphere for both related and unrelated targets (Koivisto, 1998; Silva-Pereyra et al. 1999; Sass et al., 2009). This was the case for PSEUDO, where additionally to rINSa and rIFG, this latter involved in inhibition during executive control tasks (Hampshire et al., 2010; Aron et al., 2014), presented rMTG activity, an area that has been associated with semantic integration in diverse modalities (Kotz et al., 2002; Sass et al., 2009), and for NOREL, with a cluster in rINSa and precuneus in the current findings. NOREL condition presented a cluster of activation in the left fusiform gyrus, which has been largely associated with automatic semantic processing such as mapping word-form on to meaning (Wheatley et al., 2005;Sass et al., 2009; Kuperberg et al., 2019), reflecting a lexical-semantic analysis of each NOREL target of its own, without taking into consideration the previous prime nor any relation between prime-target.
