Transplantation of ERK gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells ameliorates cognitive deficits in a 6-hydroxydopamine rat model of Parkinson's disease
2023, Neuroscience LettersCitation Excerpt :It has been reported previously that ERK plays a protective role in nerve tissue injuries[28] by promoting neuron proliferation and differentiation, which is beneficial for the recovery and establishment of synapses. ERK is able to enhance synaptic plasticity[29] and participate in regulating LTP signaling pathways[30], which thus regulates learning and memory formation. In the present study, compared with BMSCs alone transplanted rats, ERK-BMSCs transplantation exhibited superior efficiency against cognition impairments, suggesting that ERK promoted the differentiation of BMSCs into neuron-like cells and thus improved the ability of BMSCs to recover and rebuild DA neuronal pathways[31].
