Proximal muscle atrophy in adult celiac disease

  • Published:
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The finding of 2 patients with adult celiac disease and proximal muscle atrophy in whom malabsorption was not at first considered suggests that either malabsorption or adult celiac disease itself should be considered among the possible causes of proximal muscle atrophy. In proximal muscle atrophy of unknown cause, malabsorption should be routinely ruled out.
