2021, Hormones and BehaviorCitation Excerpt :Capsules containing a 25% estradiol to 75% cholesterol ratio were constructed and then implanted subcutaneously as described by Daniel et al. (2002). Similarly constructed capsules have been shown to produce estradiol levels (20–25 pg/ml) typical of the diestrus stage of the estrous cycle (Luine, 1997; Singh et al., 1994). Tamoxifen has relatively little affinity for estrogen receptors; however, it is a prodrug for receptor ligands such as afimoxifene (4-hydroxytamoxifen; 4-OHT) and endoxifene (N-desmethyl-4-hydroxytamoxifen).
