2022, Viral, Parasitic, Bacterial, and Fungal Infections: Antimicrobial, Host Defense, and Therapeutic StrategiesLessons from Epstein-Barr virus DNA detection in cerebrospinal fluid as a diagnostic tool for EBV-induced central nervous system dysfunction among HIV-positive patients
2022, Biomedicine and PharmacotherapyCitation Excerpt :Aseptic or viral meningitis is the most common EBV infection neurological disorder presenting headache, fever, and stiff neck symptoms. Over 25% of patients with EBV infection showed CSF abnormalities [47]. Aseptic meningitis accounted for 41% among neurologic involvements of IM [1].
Review of the neurological aspects of HIV infection
2021, Journal of the Neurological SciencesCitation Excerpt :HIV is associated with the development of large B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma within the brain and rarely the spinal cord [116]. It typically occurs with advanced immunosuppression with CD4 counts <100 cells/mm3 and is invariably associated with EBV infection [117]. Its incidence has dramatically declined following the introduction of ART but is still seen particularly in the developing nations [118].
