2021, Principles and Practice of Movement DisordersStridor combined with other sleep breathing disorders in multiple system atrophy: a tailored treatment?
2018, Sleep MedicineCitation Excerpt :Sleep apnea may cause fatigue and excessive daytime sleepiness whereas stridor is a life-threatening condition that leads to acute respiratory distress (via laryngeal obstruction) and reduced survival rates. The earliest treatment for stridor was surgical (including tracheostomy, tracheotomy, and cordotomy), until two groups reported that the application of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) eliminated nocturnal stridor [6,7]. The benefit of CPAP on stridor, quality of life and survival has been reported in two longitudinal studies [8,9].
