Correlation dimension of optokinetic nystagmus as evidence of chaos in the oculomotor system

IEEE Trans Biomed Eng. 1992 Dec;39(12):1319-21. doi: 10.1109/10.184710.

Abstract

The correlation dimension of optokinetic nystagmus (OKN) eye movements from a normal human subject was computed. Results indicate a value of about 2.8, indicating the possibility of chaotic dynamics in OKN. This was found to differ from the dimension of an artificial OKN signal with the same second-order statistics.
