Brucellosis

Infect Dis Clin North Am. 1994 Mar;8(1):225-41.

Abstract

Brucellosis remains an endemic disease in many regions of the world, with morbidity much more prevalent in developing countries. Infection is most prevalent in areas in which people are exposed to animals that are carriers of the different brucellae species. By obtaining a definite diagnosis of the disease and treating the patient early in the infection and selecting the appropriate antimicrobial for the particular clinical form of the disease, complete remission of the infection occurs in the majority of cases.
